Welcome To The Tandetron Accelerator Laboratory

The Tandetron Accelerator Laboratory is a part of the Canadian Charged Particle Accelerator Consortium (CCPAC). This is a National Facility supported in part by an NSERC Major Research Support grant. Accelerator users undertake a broad range of materials research projects using ion beam analysis and ion implantation. Ion implantation is the process by which impurities are introduced into semiconductors to create microelectronic devices, and so is one of the key techniques that makes fast computers and smartphones possible. We have extensive materials characterization and processing capabilities available to users. If you would like to schedule beam time at ISW please contact Dr. Lyudmila Goncharova or Jack Hendriks. There are several ways to gain access to our facilities. Our aim is to facilitate collaborative research projects and to stimulate multidisciplinary interactions within the University, nationally and internationally. Laboratory Tutorials Tutorials on Rutherford Backscattering Spectrometry (RBS) are regularly scheduled at Western's Tandetron Accelerator. These are open (free of charge) to all graduate students and researchers interested in learning about RBS and ion implantation, as well as data analysis, and will be of interest to potential users of the Tandetron Accelerator.
